SWR has been showing the love to Waterloo region (and beyond) for 15 years now. And looking back it is hard to believe that so much time has passed and so much has been accomplished.
During this time we have worked with businesses, municipalities, organizations, the community in general, to build a better future for all. That work has included:
- supporting more than 150 individual organizations with their operation footprint,
- creating two community climate action plans in partnership with the municipalities and Reep
- hosting thousands of people at hundreds of events
- planting thousands of trees
- launching Green Economy Canada to scale our model, and of course
- bringing the vision of the first net-positive multi-tenant office building to life in partnership with the Cora Group, EY Canada, and the David Johnston R+T Park
All of this work has been done by an incredible staff and volunteer team, the army of angels that supports this work, and then goes on to bring sustainability to their next adventures.
To mark this 15th year of operations in 2024, SWR will be doing 15 acts of kindness to support and show our love. To kick it off, in January we created cards for seniors through the Sending Sunshine. And that is just the beginning.
While we have ideas for all the ways we want to be out there helping, we would love to hear from you. Do you have a project that could use our help? An event where SWR would be a good support? If so, please reach out and share to events@sustainablewaterlooregion.ca! Send us your ideas, we can’t promise to do them all (we are a small but mighty team), but all ideas are welcome.
Thank you to this community, for all the partnerships, the collaboration, the willingness to innovate and the understanding that the best future forward for all is a low carbon future! It is an honour to do this work and to serve our communities.
Here’s to 15 more!
