Member Portal Engagement Coordinator

The Impact Network is Sustainable Waterloo Region’s (SWR) flagship program. We foster the development of the local clean economy by supporting organizations to set ambitious and realistic sustainability targets. We encourage an overall approach to sustainability, with focus on carbon, waste and water operations.

The Impact Network  is a fully integrated environmental sustainability program that was designed by and for Waterloo Region. The services and framework are designed to support local sustainability issues in a way that fits with the most common international standards.

As the Member Portal Engagement Coordinator you would fulfill the following roles to support our online platform to better engage our membership base:

  • Conceptualize creative ideas for virtual member engagement
  • Test and improve the member portal design
  • Assist in establishing design guidelines, standards and best practices for the member portal
  • Design visual imagery and ensure they are in line with SWR’s branding
  • Communicate design ideas using user flows, process flows, sitemaps and wireframes
  • Support communications related to engaging members online
  • Design and implement an effective member forum
  • Manage topics and monitor comments
  • Upload and integrate the member newsletter
  • Design an engaging and interactive web-based experience for members
  • Showcase members who are leading on sustainability metrics
  • Build the member onboarding process into the website
  • Create a walkthrough on how to use the member portal
  • Develop calls to action to find useful information and tools on the portal
  • Highlight relevant and engaging content for members

Duration: This is an 8-week position. The start date is flexible, but must start by July 9, 2022.

TravelWise Member Engagement and Events Coordinator

TravelWise is a partnership between the Region of Waterloo (RoW) and Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR). By promoting sustainable transportation choices like walking, cycling, taking public transit, or carpooling, TravelWise eases parking concerns, relieves traffic congestion, reduces Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, promotes healthy lifestyles, and improves quality of life. 

As the Member Engagement and Events Coordinator you would fulfill the following roles to support TravelWise and its’ member organizations:

  • Support internal and external communications with TravelWise members including:
    • Coordinating with members as the TravelWise team engages them in 1:1 sessions to set their strategic intention from 2022 to 2025 ;
    • Documenting the information shared by members during the 1:1 sessions and discussing it with team members;
    • Analyzing and reviewing the information shared by members for opportunities to include key information in their strategy document;
    • Developing written communications materials such as presentations, social media content etc;
    • Developing agendas, recording discussions, taking minutes for meetings;
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the Bike Month event including;
    • Supporting the development of the Bike Month event plan;
    • Coordinating with the SWR Marketing and Graphics team in the development of Bike Month promotion materials;
    • Participating in the Bike Month events online and in-person;
    • Developing written communications materials such as presentations, social media content etc;
  • Facilitate and assist in planning and implementing other TravelWise events. 
  • Other tasks to support TravelWise, as required.

ClimateActionWR Community Engagement Coordinator

ClimateActionWR is a collaboration between local organizations, community members, and municipalities in Waterloo Region focused on climate change mitigation, and is led by Reep Green Solutions (Reep) and Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR). It coordinates the activities of Waterloo Region’s community climate action strategies – establishing cross-sector dialogue, facilitating collaborative opportunities, and monitoring and measuring progress towards achieving our community’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction target. 

In June 2021, ClimateActionWR completed the development of our community’s long-term climate action strategy, TransformWR, which was endorsed by all eight municipalities in Waterloo region. This work outlines a long term strategy to achieve an 80% reduction in GHG emissions by 2050 (80by50), and 78 local action items to reduce emissions 30% by 2030. ClimateActionWR is now working to support the community in the implementation of the strategy, building capacity for our municipalities, and engaging the broader community in the work and to take action.

As the Community Engagement Coordinator you would fulfill the following roles to support our community in achieving our 80by50 goal and increase sustainability across Waterloo Region:

  • Support internal and external communications related to engaging the community in the TransformWR community climate action strategy, including:
    • Designing, coordinating, and implementing the Street Team Campaign (subject to change based on current COVID guidelines);
    • Supporting the design and implementation of a community engagement campaign related to the implementation of the TransformWR strategy;
    • Giving presentations and meeting with community stakeholders;
    • Developing written communications materials such as presentations, sector-specific resources, blog posts, social media content etc;
    • Conducting outreach to build relationship with local groups and organizations; 
    • Developing agendas, recording discussions, taking minutes for meetings and workshops as necessary;
    • Reviewing community engagement activities for opportunities to improve and address gaps in our resources and communications.
  • Act as a liaison between the Plan Manager and other stakeholders of ClimateActionWR; 
  • Create momentum, and drive change toward a low carbon future;
  • Other tasks to support ClimateActionWR, as required.
