Milestones

Milestones are phases during your program participation that become your personalized roadmap to ongoing sustainability. Think of them as guides that help you integrate your reduction targets and Impact Network participation into your day-to-day business operations, ultimately leading to measurable benefits of which your whole company can be proud. Here’s how it typically works:

  1. Meet with the IN team to establish your sustainability goals. We’ll get you access to the members-only online portal for resources, best practices, and more, setting you and your green team up for success. We’ll also publicly celebrate your membership with our network!
  2. Build your team capacity by attending our sustainability-focused events, getting started on your Green Team development, and participating in our member-specific workshops. We’ll support and provide you with the tools and resources to choose a path of SDG and/or data tracking and help to identify your organization’s baseline.
  3. The team trains you on the Energy and Sustainability System and shows you how to access and work through the Sustainable Development Goals Action Manager. Together, we’ll identify the areas (e.g. carbon footprint, waste diversion, water footprint, or a combination of those) where your organization can make the greatest impact. This stage allows for the measurement and sharing of the ways you’ve integrated sustainability into your organization. Once the reduction target is selected, and the pledge agreement is signed, we love to share the good news with the public.
  4. It’s time to show off the impact of all your hard work! Now that you’ve set a reduction target, it’s time to implement changes to help your organization in reaching these reductions. As a Pledging Member with a public environmental impact target, you will provide us with your data annually, and we’ll share your success publicly.

Sustainable Development Goal Action Manager

Here at SWR, we’re big fans of B Lab, a nonprofit organization that believes businesses should “Measure What Matters” and be a force for good. So do we! The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Action Manager is an impact management tool for businesses, which was designed to help organizations set goals and track progress towards the SDGs.

The SDGs are a collection of 17 interconnected goals agreed upon by UN Members in 2015. They create a blueprint for bettering people and the planet by 2030. These goals call for deep transformative actions, in which organizations are expected to participate and lead in rethinking business models and using a collective voice for further action.

Log in and complete the assessment to see how your company aligns with the SDGs, compared to your industry peers locally and around the world. Work through our SDG Action Manager and join us in the movement of people using business as a force for good.

Targets

Carbon

A greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint measures the amount of GHGs that your organization emits into the atmosphere.

Waste

Waste diversion measures the percentage of waste that you recycle or reuse, focusing on keeping materials out of landfill.

Water

A water footprint measures the water impact of your operations. This includes stormwater, water consumption, and wastewater.

Once you’re an Impact Network member, our team will help you with key target-based decisions. For each target area (carbon footprint, waste diversion. water footprint), there are three target levels (Gold, Silver, Bronze). An organization can set a target in one or a combination of all three areas. With the help of our experienced team, each Pledging Member reports their key performance data to measure the environmental impact of their target and the actions taken to reach it. Together, we’ll help you set and reach your goals, in ways that are good for business.
