Continued annual Capital investment in energy efficiency, climate action initiative and greening related projects. Projects for 2021 include LED lighting retrofits, the installation of 2 EV charging stations, smart thermostats, tightening of building envelopes through renovation, tree planting, etc.

Sustainability Projects

2020

Performed an extensive renovation of their 100-year-old facility, Conestogo Operations Garage, that entailed a new exterior cladding, Energy Star certified door and window replacements, new overhead doors, and insulating the entire facility. Retrofitting aging infrastructure anticipates significant reductions in GHG emissions and their natural gas consumption for heating purposes.

2018

Completed LED streetlight conversion, which led to 520,722 kWh in annual energy savings and $62,486 in annual energy costs in 2019.
