
We are proud to recognize rare Charitable Research Reserve as a valued member of the Impact Network
since 2017! The rare Charitable Research Reserve is a community-based land trust and environmental institute, with 9 locations protecting more than 1,500 acres of highly sensitive land across Waterloo
Region-Wellington County. The organization manages over 16 km of trails that are free and open for the
public for exercise and connecting to nature. They also have opportunities for team volunteer engagement from April to October!

rare Charitable Research Reserve’s priority is conservation of natural habitats – protecting 24 different
habitats in perpetuity, such as old-growth forests, cliffs, and tallgrass prairies! They also specialize in
Community gardening with 110 garden plots and have an additional Food Bank garden delivering 2,000 lbs in fresh produce to address food security in the region. Additionally, they plant native species to restore habitats, conduct shoreline cleanups along the Grand River, manage invasive plants, and run the Every Child Outdoors program with 219 schools and 2,000 students. Overall, they are leaders in land and habitat conservation!
