[February 2025] Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR) is happy to welcome the Municipality of North Perth as the newest member of the Impact Network, joining as an Observing Organization!

North Perth is centrally located in midwestern Ontario and within a 1.5 hour drive of five international shipping ports. There are five international airports that serve the region all located within a 1.5 hour drive equipped to handle corporate, freight and recreational flights. More than half of the North American industrial market is within one day’s trucking distance.

“The Municipality of North Perth is thrilled to announce its collaboration with Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR). This partnership is set to advance our environmental initiatives significantly. Through this collaboration, we will implement strategies to minimize our carbon footprint and benefit from advanced methods for tracking and reporting our greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, we’ll be working on setting and achieving realistic sustainability goals. We look forward to fostering a ‘Green Team’ within our organization to boost employee engagement and take full advantage of the educational opportunities SWR provides. The expertise of Sustainable Waterloo Region will provide invaluable support in our future policy development, highlighting our commitment to a sustainable future.” said Mark Hackett, Manager of Environmental Services.

North Perth is the fastest growing community in Perth County and home to more than 15,000 residents. The Municipality of North Perth offers a perfect blend of rural and small town living within a short drive of city amenities and the natural wonders of Lake Huron and Ontario’s cottage country. Listowel, the major urban centre, is a regional commercial and service hub for nearby communities in Perth, Wellington and Huron counties with its thriving downtown and diverse retail offerings.

“We are so excited to be working with the Municipality of North Perth on their corporate impact,” said Tova Davidson, Executive Director of SWR. “This community has a demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of the community now and for the future, and our team is thrilled to be embarking on a strong partnership with them and looks forward to many other collaborations in the future.”
