I am constantly amazed by our volunteers, and in celebrating National Volunteer Week, it’s important to recognize the incredible contributions of the dedicated individuals who give their time and energy to make our community a better place. Here at SWR, there is no shortage of volunteers who are working tirelessly to create a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future for our community.

One of the things that sets our organization apart is the way we approach volunteerism. Instead of simply assigning volunteers to specific tasks, our volunteers work cross-functionally, recognizing that everyone has unique skills and perspectives that can be leveraged to create real change. From fundraising to business development to events to communications, our various member programs, and beyond, we encourage our volunteers to explore different roles and find the ones that best align with their interests and abilities. More importantly, they are inspiring others to get involved and make a difference in their own way.

Of course, this kind of approach would be impossible without the guidance and support of our whole team, who reap the benefits of our volunteers, who go above and beyond to create a positive and empowering environment for the organization and the community.

So, as we celebrate National Volunteer Week, let’s take a moment to thank the amazing volunteers at this organization for their dedication, passion, and hard work. They are proof that when we come together and work towards a common goal, anything is possible. And they are making Waterloo Region and the world a better place for all of us and generations to come.
