[March 7, 2023] Vive Development is Sustainable Waterloo Region’s (SWR) newest member of the Impact Network, joining as an Observing Organization!

As a member, they become connected to an extensive network of like-minded organizations to share and learn best practices. Members of our network have invested in better understanding the impacts of their operations on environmental sustainability. They use program resources to build a culture of sustainability among employees and to engage employees as sustainability advocates while also adapting policy and reducing impact through realistic sustainability targets.

“The development and housing industry are critical players in our low carbon future, and Vive Development has committed to being part of this better future for all,” said Tova Davidson, Executive Director of Sustainable Waterloo Region. “The homes that Vive Development creates are not only a place to hang your hat, they are also the foundation of a sustainable life. This commitment to sustainability and a low carbon future that Vive is making is inspiring, and we look forward to working with them in transforming their organization and the communities they build!”

Vive Development is committed to bringing thoughtful spaces to life. They balance design innovation and sustainability to create not just a home but a meaningful and attainable lifestyle choice and vibrant communities. Since their first property renovation in 2015, Vive has grown a diverse portfolio of innovative housing projects to meet a diverse range of lifestyle needs. Vive’s development portfolio consists primarily of mid-market rental developments, and they are keen to do their part as a private developer to create solutions for today’s housing shortage.

“Vive is thrilled to partner with Sustainable Waterloo Region and take our passion for innovation to the next level,” said Stephen Litt, Chief Development Officer of Vive Development Corporation.  “We’ve worked hard with our development team to advance fully electric building designs while moving away from a reliance on natural gas; as a result, we are currently achieving 20% to 40% improvements in energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions compared to building code requirements.  This is just our starting point in sustainability, and we look forward to building on this momentum with the support of the SWR team.”

We are thrilled to have this conscientious and forward-thinking organization join our network of organizations working towards more sustainable operations in Waterloo Region, and we can’t wait to see what their first year of membership brings.
