[December 12, 2022] Nopak Canada is Sustainable Waterloo Region’s (SWR) newest member of the Impact Network, joining as an Observing Organization!

As a member, they become connected to an extensive network of like-minded organizations to share and learn best practices. Members in our network have invested in better understanding the impacts of their operations on environmental sustainability. They use program resources to build a culture of sustainability among employees, and to engage employees as sustainability advocates while also adapting policy and reducing impact through realistic sustainability targets.

“As a manufacturing company, Nopak Canada is a great addition to the SWR network,” said Tova Davidson, Executive DIrector of Sustainable Waterloo Region. “The manufacturing sector has so much to gain from becoming more environmentally responsible. From attracting and retaining employees to cost savings on energy and process efficiencies, to reducing risk exposure, we are happy to have the opportunity to help Nopak Canada on this journey.”

Nopak Canada is located in Waterloo where they manufacture and distribute pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders to customers across Canada and internationally. Since 1980, Nopak Canada’s customer base has included small and large public and private companies and government agencies. The company operates with an ESG model focused on people, planet and prosperity.

“This membership with SWR is another step to becoming a more environmentally efficient and responsible company,” said Cathy Snyder, President & CEO of Nopak Canada. “We know that businesses are now seeing the benefits of being more sustainable and we know this is one of the best ways for us to become a better, more innovative, and more responsible company. The support from SWR will be so important to us to be able to take advantage of these benefits of sustainability.”

Prior to joining the program, Nopak Canada has already demonstrated sustainability commitment through efforts such as increasing waste diversion by separating organics and recycling and collecting scrap materials, reducing electricity usage, supporting local businesses and engaging employees in environmental initiatives. “We at Nopak Canada are very excited to be working with SWR and moving to the next phase of our environmental journey.”

We are thrilled to have this conscientious and forward-thinking organization join our network of organizations working towards more sustainable operations in Waterloo Region, and we can’t wait to see what their first year of membership brings.
