Joining Sustainable Waterloo Region’s flagship program -the Regional Sustainability Initiative- just got a whole lot more exciting! Our colleagues at Green Economy Canada have partnered with Natural Resources Canada to provide a unique opportunity for members to access funding to cover a portion of the cost of EV charging installation.
Starting February 4th, Members of SWR’s program, the Regional Sustainability Initiative, are able to apply through Green Economy Canada’s funding pool.
In the initial intake of applications, Green Economy Canada will be accepting applications from organizations that fit the criteria of typically underserved organizations, which includes women-owned, Black-owned, Indigenous-owned, and people of colour-owned businesses. Initial applications will be open from February 4th, 2022 until March 21, 2022.
After March 21, 2022, the applications will be open to all other members in the program!
What are the details?
This program will run from February 4th, 2022, until March 31, 2024, with a goal to disburse $3.4M in incentives.
Through this fund, successful applicants will be eligible to be reimbursed for up to 50% of expenses incurred installing Electric Vehicle charging stations, up to a maximum of $99,999 per applicant and other limits depending on charger type.
On February 4th, 2022, Green Economy Canada will be releasing more information on their website: https://greeneconomy.ca/. This will include a promotional toolkit that will provide an Application Guide. Plus, they will be taking the Application Form and FAQs live on their website as well. A webinar will be hosted to provide more information on the program and will allow opportunities to ask your questions!
The funding will be provided on a first come first serve basis, so be sure to get your applications ready and join SWR’s program if you have not already!
