Armen Poladian has been an integral part of Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR) since March 2018.  Originally working as our evolvGREEN Communications Coordinator, since February 2019 he has been driving the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and installation of charging stations in Waterloo Region as our ChargeWR Coordinator.

Armen brings to SWR his background in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and a passion for sustainability and climate action… and arrives in his very own Nissan Leaf EV.  Alongside Mark Keating, Katie Wall, and Arcy Canumay, he has championed sustainable transportation in our community by building relationships and sharing inspiration and insights at events including National Drive Electric Week and Voyago’s Electric School Bus event.

Bringing his film, writing, and directing skills (his own films have been official film festival selections in festivals from Toronto to Hollywood) to SWR, Armen has also produced promotional videos for ChargeWR, SWR members, and SWR promotions.

Armen embodies SWR’s vision of raising Waterloo Region to be a sustainability leader by leading the adoption of sustainable vehicle transportation.  In his own words, “I hope that Waterloo Region becomes a leader, on both a local and global front, in the EV revolution.  ChargeWR provides the initiative to aid that transition, guiding us to a more sustainable future.”

Armen’s care for Earth and community extends past EVs as well.  As a proud environmentalist and Armenian, he used his 25th birthday in 2016 to host a fundraiser for the Armenia Tree Project (ATP).  His goal was met and surpassed, as 100 trees were donated and planted in Armenia.

Thank you for volunteering your talents and skills to champion sustainability in Waterloo Region (and beyond)!
