Since coming onboard at the beginning of 2018 as a ‘Local Policy Researcher’, Megan has continued to bring her passion for community-level climate action and environmental policy to the team, to produce ClimateActionWR’s monthly ‘Local Polity Digest’. She brings a range of skills together to research council minutes and updates from across all 8 municipalities within Waterloo Region, and communicate them in an efficient way, to provide our subscribers a monthly briefing on local sustainability news.
This role takes a tremendous amount of time, research, and attention to detail, as well as strong communication skills to connect with a wide audience of readers. When she began in this role, she was part of a 2-person team, and after her teammate moved on, she stepped up to the plate to single-handedly ensure consistent delivery of the Policy Digest, and remained in this role solo for over a year without skipping a beat.
Her impressive initiative, devotion to staying informed, and continual combing through what is not always the most exciting content, has enabled community members to stay up to date on the local policies that drive and influence climate action across Waterloo Region.
While this position can be incredibly time consuming, she never hesitates to inquire about other areas and projects that she can get involved with and lend her expertise. She has a very clear passion for environmental sustainability, and connecting with the community.
Megan is a tremendous member of our team, intelligent, kind, and hard-working, and her significant contributions have directly influenced the success of our local community.
Thank you for all that you do Megan, we are so fortunate to have you on our team!
