Sustainable Waterloo Region’s greatest resource is our people. We are able to accomplish SWR’s great work with a committed team of volunteers and a small staff driven by a shared passion to achieve an environmentally sustainable Waterloo Region for current and future generations. Fueled by this passion, our volunteers join us for any number of reasons; from gaining meaningful work experience, to expanding professional networks, connecting with other like-minded individuals, or contributing their professional expertise to improve their local community. Our volunteer base is dynamic: as we welcome newcomers to the team, we say farewell to those who have achieved their goals and are on to the next stage of their journey. As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we rise to our feet to applaud an extra special group who have generously given their time, talent, passion and energy for five or more years. Our current long-tenured team members have remained involved, committed and integral to the operational success and strategic growth of SWR.
