About

When I walked into Living Fresh for the first time, the air was so fresh and clean, and it smelled so pure. It’s easy to find places that sell plants that will give you the same fresh air in your home, but it’s harder to find ones that show commitment to their community like Living Fresh does.

Tina, the owner of the shop, doesn’t just talk about her commitment to this community, but she really shows it with the product she carries. From plants to pottery, and even chocolate, Tina sources locally when she can, and she understands how she can make decisions that are better for the environment.

One thing she taught me is that it isn’t actually very “green” to grow some plants in Canada during the winter months. While she will support local when she can, one of her Canadian suppliers also grows product in Florida, and this method is more sustainable. The energy costs of heating greenhouses in Canadian winter often consume more energy than the energy that would be used to transport product from the US.

Gifts Ideas

Gift boxes – This Holiday season, Living Fresh teamed up with Ambrosia Pastry, Cocoon Apothecary, and Matter of Taste to create gift boxes that are filled with high quality, locally sourced products. Each box contains flowers, an air plant, or a succulent, soap, lotion or aftershave, a bar of bean to bar chocolate, a bag of coffee, and a bag of tea. These products are all from local businesses, and are made more sustainably that most product you will find at a big box store.

Flower Classes and Workshops – You can gift workshops or gift certificates for workshops to the flower or plant lover in your office. Right now there are holiday workshops such as a Holiday Garland Workshop and a Holiday Centrepiece Compote.

Plants and flowers – Living Fresh features locally grown succulents, plants, and terrariums, as well as imported plants and flowers. If you want to be sure the product you’re buying is local, just ask! As mentioned earlier, though, other products can be just as eco-friendly.

Pottery – Find locally made pottery in store. Perfect for holding some of the previously mentioned succulents.
