Enviro-Stewards Inc. is an engineering company and a certified B corporation that helps industrial, commercial and institutional clients increase their profits, sustain the environment and compellingly benefit society. Enviro-Stewards Inc. achieves this through Energy Conservation and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction planning, Eco-Efficiency, Water Conservation, Toxics Use Reduction, Pollution Prevention, treatment process design, Product Design for Environment, and Sustainability Strategizing.
Notable GHG Reduction and Sustainability Projects:
- First corporate member in Elmira to join the Grand River Car Share Program. As such, was an influential force in the program’s launch in Elmira (first rural carshare east of BC). A hybrid vehicle available to the community is stationed outside Enviro-Stewards’ head office as of March 5th 2013.
- Installation of additional lighting controls to further decrease total power consumption
Sustainability Culture at Enviro-Stewards:
Employees are encouraged to pursue a healthy work / home life balance whereby they have the time and encouragement to pursue local and global initiatives to contribute to sustainable communities. The company closes its office one day a year so that the employees, clients and suppliers can volunteer their time towards a community based initiative. Lastly management clearly communicates to all employees that flexibility of working hours or leaves of absence are available for those wishing to partake in volunteer and charity ventures that pursue sustainability goals.
Sustainability Goals:
- Enviro-Stewards’ sustainability goal is to avoid 500 tonnes of GHG emissions for every tonne of GHG generated by our operations. They will accomplish this by reducing their own emissions per employee by 80% and helping their clients avoid at least 20,000 tonnes/year of GHG emissions.
Sustainability-Related Successes/Recognition:
Enviro-Stewards was awarded a “Best for the World” award by the B lab based on it’s exemplary environmental and social performance. They also received the John de Gonzague Memorial Pollution Prevention Visionary Award, which is the highest award in this field in Canada. Enviro-Stewards enables clients to provide safe drinking water and avoid deforestation related GHG emissions in South Sudan with locally constructed drinking water purification systems.
