January 14, 2014 (Waterloo Region, ON) – Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR) announced today that Tova Davidson will join the organization as incoming Executive Director. This marks the successful conclusion of an 8-month process to find the organization’s next leader.

As executive director, Tova will guide the organization’s new strategic direction – launched in December 2013, lead staff and volunteers, spark community resource development and support program delivery. “Tova brings the perfect balance that the Sustainable Waterloo Region board was looking for in a leader to take the reins from Mike,” says SWR’s board chair Barry Colbert. “In addition to her energy and passion for the organization’s mission, she also brings an entrepreneurial mindset to grow the organization’s capacity to meet its mandate. We are confident that she will take SWR to the next level, growing existing programs like the Regional Carbon Initiative and ClimateActionWR, while also leading new initiatives to grow SWR’s impact.”

Tova joins Sustainable Waterloo Region after having spent twelve years in increasingly senior positions at The Letter M Marketing based in Guelph, Ontario. Most recently, she served as Vice President where she worked with clients including St. Jacobs Country, City of Guelph and BlackBerry. Tova’s begins with the SWR full-time on Monday, January 27 during which time she will shadow outgoing Executive Director, Mike Morrice ahead of his full transition to a new national not-for-profit, Sustainability CoLab (http://sustainabilitycolab.org/).
